In order to easily open and hook the security lock on top, it is helpful to first unzip the front door and windows to allow air to flow freely through the tent. Our push-up tents are packaged so that all doors and windows are closed and zipped upon arrival, making it more difficult to open when air is still trapped within. Please remember to unzip the openings prior to setting up the tent to make pushing up and securing the tent as easy as pushing up an umbrella.

Beach Tents question by firefly: What do you call those huge shade things on the beach that have four long poles and a tent like roof?
I’ve searched under beach tent and beach cabana and neither one seem to be what they’re called because I can’t find them.
They fit many people underneath, they have a long pole on four corners, probably like 8 feet high or so and then at the top there is a square or rectangle tent-material-like shade covering. I’ve seen people using them on many beaches but can’t even find one online. Help!

Well if your in california and don’t have camping reservations at any of the approved beach camping area’s you can’t go. Reservations for beach campgrounds are all booked up through summer 6 months in advance. Camping on just any beach is illegal in California.
A good tent recommendation is Coleman Tents, they are the only tent maker with a stay dry guarantee and have tents to fit every budget.

My boys are 3 years old and 7 months old. Neither have been camping before. We are taking a pop up camper with AC (nothing at all fancy… one small step above a tent). And I want to be prepared. It will be us, my hubby and a few other family members. Also, what should I bring for them that I might not think of. If it helps there is also a beach and fishing pier within walking distance. All advice is appreciated.

I would most likely recommend bug spray, sun tan lotion with a good SPF, and hand sanitizer (for when you eat and don’t have access to a bathroom), and a first-aid kit.

This will be in August and will be hot. Which has nice beach areas for the kids and still offers good fishing and boat water sports? Is one better than the other as far as shaded tent camping sites? Bike trails would be a bonus. Please respond only if you’ve been there.

Howard Prairie is my choice. It is bigger; you get bike lanes and lots and lots of amenities.
They also have handicapped accessible paths.

The seat-belt lights came on. Is the flight already over? I buckled up and the oxygen masks came down. I helped the little girl next to me put hers on, then put mine on. I could tell we were loosing altitude, and fast. I closed my eyes when I remembered that we were over an ocean. Everything went black…
I woke up to the sound of the ocean’s waves swishing. Was I really still alive? Apparently. Maybe someone else was too. I sat up and looked at my watch, which was the only thing I had left. It said 5:09 a.m. It was six o’clock in the morning when the crash had occurred. Twenty-three hours and nine minutes ago.
“Anyone there? Hello?” I asked over and over again. No response. I decided to find a shelter. I looked among the wreckage and found a few helpful things. I found pillows, blankets, string, and a backpack full of snacks and drinks. I didn’t want to stay on the beach. I found an area in front of the woods that was grassy and dry. This would be where I would camp. I put everything in the backpack and looked for some thick, long branches. I managed to get the amount I needed and proceeded back to my spot. Once there, I made a tent using the string, sticks, some of the blankets, and my knowledge from girl scouts. Lucky me, huh? I went inside and laid down a pillow and blanket for me. I put the others in a corner just in case there were others still alive.
“Now I need a campfire.” I muttered to myself. But, when I went outside, there was one. Right there in front of me. No one around. Just me and the fire. I wondered how it got there, but decided some things are better left unknown. I wished that some other people were still alive. I went into the tent and ate a bag of chips. There was water in the bag, too, so I drank a little bit. When I went back outside, there was somebody. I didn’t recognize her from the flight, and I went up and down every row looking at everybody. I have a photographic memory, so there was no way I could’ve missed her. Was she the one who made the fire?
