Pop Up Beach Tents question by Beachy Keen 2: Going camping this weekend with my 2 little ones for the first time… any advice?
My boys are 3 years old and 7 months old. Neither have been camping before. We are taking a pop up camper with AC (nothing at all fancy… one small step above a tent). And I want to be prepared. It will be us, my hubby and a few other family members. Also, what should I bring for them that I might not think of. If it helps there is also a beach and fishing pier within walking distance. All advice is appreciated. :-)

I would most likely recommend bug spray, sun tan lotion with a good SPF, and hand sanitizer (for when you eat and don’t have access to a bathroom), and a first-aid kit.

bring new outdoor toys for them to explore. don’t forget swim diapers

also, more important than what to bring is to remember the following:

kids can get cranky if they are expected to be up for a long day. plan to have rest/nap time to break up the day instead of all day events.

make sure you always have snacks, drinks, and an alternative activity, like dolls, color books etc in case they get bored

Some advice from a fellow mother ( i have a 6 year old son and 2 year old daughter… we took our daughter camping for the first time last year).

Make sure you have toys for the kids. Kids easily get cranky. They dont tend to go to bed late while camping, and get up early from all the excitement. Make sure you have plenty of blankets so they are warm, and something they have for comfort (my daughter has a blankie, my son a stuffed animal). Make sure to take nap breaks for the kids since they are young, especially if its in hot weather. Make sure to always have snacks and drinks they like on hand wherever you are! Life jackets a must, and swim diapers! Lots of changes of clothes, because kids get dirty, and depending on the kid, some dont like to be dirty or wet for very long and want to be changed! Mine do anyways! LOL…
